Diego Ernesto Dominici (b. 1972 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, d. 2023) studied Pure Mathematics at the Universidad de Buenos Aires, Argentina, and did his Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) under the direction of Charles Knessl and Noemí Irene Wolanski. Diego was a Full Professor at the State University of New York at New Paltz where he was Department Chair for many years. Since May 2023 Diego worked as a senior researcher at the Research Institute for Symbolic Computation at Johannes Kepler Universität, Linz, Austria.

Dominici published numerous papers in asymptotics and special functions and organized many meetings and conferences for events of the AMS, SIAM and the European Consortium on Mathematics in Industry. Diego was very active in the SIAM activity group on Orthogonal Polynomials and Special Functions since 2010. He was elected as Program Director for the period 2011–2016 and served as OPSF-Talk moderator from 2010–2022 with Bonita Saunders, and co-editor for OPSF-Net from 2006–2015 with Martin Muldoon.

In 2008 Dominici received a Research Fellowship from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and visited the Technische Universität Berlin in Germany. He is a recipient of the Richard C. DiPrima Prize for outstanding research in applied mathematics, awarded by SIAM.

In November 2015, Dominici was named Associate Editor of the following DLMF Chapters
