Michael V. Berry

Michael Berry is Melville Wills Professor in the Physics Department of the University of Bristol in England, where he has been since 1965. He is also an Associate Editor for Physics for the DLMF project.
Berry has published over 400 papers on theoretical physics, mainly in quantum mechanics and optics and including the development of associated mathematics, especially asymptotics and geometry.
Berry has received many awards for his work in physics. He was elected a fellow of the Royal Society of London in 1982, and of the Royal Society of Edinburgh in 2005. He was knighted in 1996. He is a foreign member of the Royal Society of Sciences in Uppsala, the U. S. National Academy of Sciences, and the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences.
