Karl Dilcher

Karl Dilcher (b. 1954 in Wabern-Harle, Germany) is Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. He received his undergraduate education at the Technische Universität Clausthal in Germany. He then did his graduate studies at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, and finished his Ph.D. there in 1983 under the supervision of Paulo Ribenboim.

Dilcher’s research interests include classical analysis, special functions, and elementary, combinatorial, and computational number theory. Over the years he authored or coauthored numerous papers on Bernoulli numbers and related topics, and he maintains a large on-line bibliography on the subject.
